# Retiring SMF-3 for your company (FF & CO)
**1)** On the holdings tab of your account, select the SMF-3 that you would like to retire and click the retire button at the bottom of the page.
*Note: Freight Forwarders must first retire SMF-3 before transferring, assigning, or retiring them on behalf of others.*
**2)** A pop-up box will appear asking you to select the number of SMF-3 or emission savings you would like to retire. If you would like to retire all these SMF-3, select "MAX". Additionally, you will be asked to input the year in which you will claim these emission savings and whether the name of your company should be included on the Public Retirement Table. After selecting these points, click submit, and the Administrator will review this retirement.
**3)** While waiting for administrator approval, you can see the SMF-3 you have requested to retire in the pending units section of your account.
**4)** Once approved, you can see your retired SMF-3 in the 'Retired EACs' tab of your holdings.
Clicking the Public Retirement Table button will direct you to the table where the retirement is displayed.
Clicking the export button will automatically download the retirement statement for these SMF-3. You can download an example [here](https://www.katalist.org/documentation/).
